"The annual Nature's 10 for 2023 has been announced. In addition to the ten individuals selected from major global scientific events, there is also a non-human entity on the list this year—ChatGPT. Several individuals on the list have achieved milestone accomplishments within their teams. The featured figures include Kalpana Kalahasti, Deputy Director of the Indian Space Research Organisation's "Lunar 3" project; Annie Kritcher, Chief Designer of the U.S. National Ignition Facility; Link Hasegawa, developmental biologist at Osaka University, Japan; Ilya Sutskever, Chief Scientist at OpenAI and AI pioneer; Marina Silva, Minister of the Environment for Brazil; Eleni Myrivili, the United Nations' first-ever Chief Heat Officer; Halidou Tinto, parasitologist; Thomas Powles, Cancer Researcher at St Bartholomew's Hospital in London; Svetlana Mojsov, biochemist; and James Hamlin, physicist at the University of Florida.

In addition to these individuals, ChatGPT also secured a place in this year's Nature's 10. The Editor-in-Chief of Nature's Features section stated, 'While this tool may not be considered a person and doesn't fully meet the criteria for Nature's 10, we made an exception to acknowledge the significant impact of generative artificial intelligence on scientific development and progress.'"
