glimpse [glimps]
n 瞥见,一瞥 have/catch/get a glimpse of 瞥见
e.g. I caught a glimpse of our new neighbor.
V 瞥见,乍看 glimpse at sb/sth
e.g. He glimpsed at my new dress and said nothing.
注意:
glance n.“一眼,看一眼”。粗略地匆匆看一眼。强调动作过程,常常用give / take a glance at。
e.g. The man gave me a glance。
glimpse n “一瞥,瞥见”。无意识地一看,所见并不一定全面。强调动作结果,常用catch / get a glimpse of 。
e.g. I caught a glimpse of the beautiful house as train train went by.
两者区别不大,有时可以互用,具体细节比较:
glance是强调主动的加以注意瞥了一眼
glimpse强调被动的,比如某个东西在眼前闪了一下,不是你主动去看的
