Technology in science fiction is created primarily for two reasons - to serve a function in the new world that the author has created, or because the author sees current technology evolving in that fashion, often with society evolving too to suit this technology. So it is logical in some ways that those science fiction works that most accurately predicted how the society we live in functions are going to be the most accurate when it comes to predicting the technology that we have.
One of the first higher-order reading strategies we must develop is comparing. we must learn to effectively and accurately group things (objects, characters, ideas, concepts, etc.) based on similarities and differences. Comparing is an important reading strategy as it encourages and helps develop critical thinking skills. DMs (Discourse Markers) play a facilitating role in the comprehension of a text; consequently, the number of DMs can be effective in further facilitating and smoothing of the reading process. That is to say, a rise in the number of DMs can also increase the revelation of the rhetorical structure of a text and thereby increase the level of facility these markers equip the readers with.
As usual, understanding some complex sentences and the structure of the text as a whole is still a big problem for me. I’ll surf the internet to find some useful information to enrich my understanding.
