Verb. 1. to hang or swing freely悬垂,悬荡
-- Gold charms dangled from her bracelet.她的手镯上挂着许多金饰物。
-- A single light bulb dangled from the ceiling.
-- He sat on the edge with his legs dangling over the side.他悬垂着双腿坐在边缘上。
2. to hold sth. So that it hangs or swings freely
提着(某物,任其下垂或摆动)
-- She dangled her car keys nervously as she spoke.她说话时紧张地晃动着她那串钥匙。
Verb 1. to move slowly from side to side; to move sth in this way(使)摇摆,摇动
--The branches were swaying in the wind.
-- They danced rhythmically, swaying their hips to the music.他们伴着音乐扭动屁股,有节奏地跳舞。
2. to persuade sb to believe sth or do sth使相信,使动摇
-- She wasn’t swayed by his good looks or his clever talk.
I have come instead of my brother. He is ill.

Instead of lending a hand, he laughed at us.
他不仅没有帮我们一把,反而嘲笑我们。(连接动名词)
Taking exercise every day makes him look younger instead of older.

I go to bed late instead of early.我总是很晚才睡。(连接副词)
In warm weather he often reads under a tree instead of in the library. 天气暖和的时候,他常常是在树下而不是在图书馆里读书。(连接介词短语)
